Q: What oil do Walkers use to manufacture Crisps and Snacks?

Walkers use Sunseed™ Oil to make all its ordinary crisps products, because it is naturally high in mono-unsaturates and naturally low in saturates (the ones to watch).

Sensations and Snack products are made using a blend of Palm Olein vegetable oil and High Oleic Sunflower Oil.

Palm Olein is refined from raw palm oil.

Q: What are Walkers crisps made from?

The basic ingredients of Walkers crisps are raw, fresh potatoes and very high quality Sunseed™ Oil. Potatoes . Potatoes are a good source of starchy carbohydrate and dietary fibre, which are good for you. Potatoes also contain vitamins essential to health such as vitamin C.

Walkers snacks are made from cereals such as corn (maize).

Innovative technology means that production of crisps today leads to a minimal loss of nutrients. Frying potato slices in vegetable oil removes most of the water in the potato, so the dietary fibre, vitamins and minerals in the raw potato are greatly concentrated. Crisps are fried in hot vegetable oil for only a few minutes minimising the loss of essential nutrients and adding vitamin E from the vegetable oil.

Q: Can you explain your nutritional labelling and ingredients lists as they appear on the back of a Walkers crisp packet?
